Sharp Corporation had been uniting its newest mini-netbook which follows the contours of Sharp Zaurus PDA. Like the Zaurus PDA, Sharp NetWalker Mini Netbook will be run on Linux operating system. However, unlike the Zaurus, Sharp NetWalker will have Ubuntu Linux system, which usually becomes the operating system on a 'full sized' netbook. Sharp NetWalker Mini netbook or PC-Z1 also support 5-inch display size, resolution 1024 × 600 pixel (WSVGA), and a QWERTY keyboard that is super small. Sharp NetWalker shape is more like a MID (Mobile Internet Device) or Smartbook than a netbook. As for the inside of the Sharp PC-Z1 NetWalker mini netbook is a 800 MHz Freescale processor and 512 MB RAM, 4 GB SSD storage and an additional microSD memory card. So far Sharp NetWalker hardware device looks smaller with dimensions of 108.7 × 161.4 × 19.7 mm and weighs 409gram. Sharp also claims that the Sharp NetWalker mini netbook was able to hold up to 10 hours of battery power. Hardware of Sharp NetWalker has a faster boot times than PCs, which had to wait 5 minutes booting time for start-up process. However, Sharp NetWalker capable of booting process in less than 3 seconds, allows the user to check email faster, too. The Sharp Netwalker PC-Z1 is likely to be priced at ¥45,000 or approx US$ 479.
