Opera Software Acquires Email Service Provider FastMail.fm

In order to strengthen its Internet market, Opera Software ASA, a Norwegian Software plans to offer Mobile E-Mail services by taking over Web-based e-mail provider FastMail.fm, e-mail services provider from Australia.

In its press release recently, Opera said that the acquisition will enable Opera to expand its current messaging product portfolio and deliver cross-platform messaging to a wide range of devices, including computers, mobile phones, TVs and gaming consoles.

"The newest generation of Web users will discover the Web through a mobile device. Having world-class messaging capability alongside a rich and compelling Web experience is essential. By combining forces, Opera and FastMail.fm can offer messaging on any device. This will enhance the value Opera provides to consumers, while assisting our operator partners in reducing customer churn," says Rolf Assev, Chief Strategy Officer, Opera Software.

FastMail spokesman Rob Mueller in FastMail.FM Weblog said, "In an increasingly competitive market, we believe we need to make some big investments to take the next steps forward. Joining together Opera’s expertise in web browsers and especially the mobile market, and FastMail.FM’s expertise in email, will allow us to grow and take on the next big challenges in running and building an email service."

"Opera have a huge browser customer base (over 100 million users), and a thriving community of users at my.opera.com, which will help us grow FastMail in size and reach," he said.

As part of the deal, some of the Opera staff will be moved to Australia, and several employees of FastMail will be sent to Norway. Unfortunately not known exactly the funds expended by Opera Software to acquire Fastmail.

Stopanos.net Web Hosting Services Will Be Sued By Script Theft Charges

Findtoyou.com sites script theft case that allegedly carried out by stopanos.net hosting service, is likely to be brought into the realm of law. This will be done after the Indonesia's Search Engine Site managers were planning to report the stopanos.net hosting service manager to RI Police.

Previously reported, a website addressed at www.findtoyou.com has admitted that the site's script is known to have experienced theft when a website is located at www.extremedigger.com comes out. The site www.extremedigger.com believed is a duplication of the findtoyou.com. "From a simple observation evident from the CSS and Adsense are used, have exactly the same as findtoyou," said Fachrul.

But now, www.extremedigger.com site is not accessible anymore. According to Fachrul, extremedigger.com closed by stopanos.net hosting providers, at 12 o'clock Friday morning, without any confirmation to us as the injured party.

Google Profits & Revenue Rise 23% In The First Quarter Of 2010

Internet giant, Google, records its revenue and profit growth in first quarter of 2010 has reached U.S. $ 6.77 billion in the period ended March 31 2010, increased of 23 percent compared to the same period last year.

In addition, Google gets a net income of U.S. $ 1.96 billion or U.S. $ 6.06 per share. The New York Times reported that last year, they was received U.S. $ 1.42 billion or U.S. $ 4.49 per share. Facebook To Add Its Staffs Up To 50% This Year

Facebook, the biggest and most popular social networking site beside Twitter and MySpace, reportedly plans to increase the number of its staff by 50 percent this year. In an interview with Bloomberg last week, Mark Zuckerberg Facebook's founder who also a chief executive said, currently the number of staff employed by the site is 900 people.

The company said it had has 250 million users worldwide. In June, Facebook's rival, MySpace, which is managed by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp said it would lay off 30 percent of its staffs in the United States and two-thirds of its staffs around the world.

The company was developed with a number of investment by investors from various countries such as Peter Thiel, Accel Partners, Microsoft Corp., and Digital Sky Technologies.

FunPage, Indonesian Micro-Blogging Site

Cisco 2009 Midyear Security Report: Internet Crimes Are Getting More Sophisticated

The perpetrators of crime on the internet to update their tactics in spreading viruses, spams, malware, and computer identity theft. Now they also operate like a business person, implementing a strategy often used by companies, and work with others to increase the impact of their crimes.

A number of these new tactics are reported in Cisco 2009 Midyear Security Report released by the Internet network system company Cisco, early this month.
