In order to combat the activities of a number of "cyber predators" that targeting children and young girls as their victims, Facebook recently has unveiled the Facebook Safety Center. Facebook Safety Center launched with the intention to be a place for users of all stripes to learn about and maximize their security while browsing the popular social networking site. In Facebook Safety Center available comprehensive information and tips for children, parents, law enforcement officials, and teachers to avoid the trap of the cyberspace criminals. This is a follow up to the formation of Safety Advisory Board in December 2009. The advisory board made up of five Internet safety organizations from North America and Europe that will act as consultants to Facebook on issues related to online safety. The five organizations are Common Sense Media, ConnectSafely, WiredSafety, Childnet International and The Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI). "We want to have an approach to improve safety can be done in a simple, easy, and effective," said Elliot Schrage, Facebook executives in a statement to the press, Wednesday (14/4/2010). The Facebook Safety Center notifies how to deal with cyber predators descriptively. For example, practical tips how to recognize cyber criminals, action should be taken when having a threat, and how to avoid them. There is also a link to report the Facebook user who is indicated as predator.
