After being launched in the U.S. last month, Facebook Places is now launched in the UK. Facebook Places recently has been launched for Facebook users in the UK. To test this, users can try Facebook Places option on Facebook for iPhone applications or on the Facebook mobile site touch.facebook.com, as quoted by Mashable, Sunday (19/09/2010).

Facebook Places is a simple feature that could mark the places we visit in the real world, and share it online with our friends. The same functions as those offered by Foursquare and Gowalla.

Facebook also stated that control to the privacy of users for this feature will remain intact. "Check-in" are done will only be known by user friends. Facebook Places users are also can delete the check-in which they do from their smart-phone or from the website.

After being launched in the U.S., Japan and the UK, next, Facebook Places will be launched in other European countries. This feature also awaited to be launched in Indonesia.

The Nokia C3, Nokia C6 and Nokia E5 are made for just that."

Nokia C3

The Nokia C3 is the first device to bring a full QWERTY keyboard to the world’s most popular mobile phone platform – Series 40 – and is the first in the range to enable access to social networks directly on the homescreen. People can view, comment, update their status and share pictures to their favorite social networks such as Facebook and Twitter.

The Nokia C3 also comes with Ovi Mail and Ovi Chat, meaning first time users can set up email and chat accounts straight from the device, without the need for a PC. Facebook Unveils Its Safety Center: Ways To Fight The Cyber Predators

In order to combat the activities of a number of "cyber predators" that targeting children and young girls as their victims, Facebook recently has unveiled the Facebook Safety Center. Facebook Safety Center launched with the intention to be a place for users of all stripes to learn about and maximize their security while browsing the popular social networking site.

In Facebook Safety Center available comprehensive information and tips for children, parents, law enforcement officials, and teachers to avoid the trap of the cyberspace criminals. This is a follow up to the formation of Safety Advisory Board in December 2009.

The advisory board made up of five Internet safety organizations from North America and Europe that will act as consultants to Facebook on issues related to online safety. The five organizations are Common Sense Media, ConnectSafely, WiredSafety, Childnet International and The Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI).

"We want to have an approach to improve safety can be done in a simple, easy, and effective," said Elliot Schrage, Facebook executives in a statement to the press, Wednesday (14/4/2010).

The Facebook Safety Center notifies how to deal with cyber predators descriptively. For example, practical tips how to recognize cyber criminals, action should be taken when having a threat, and how to avoid them. There is also a link to report the Facebook user who is indicated as predator.

Facebook To Add Its Staffs Up To 50% This Year

Facebook, the biggest and most popular social networking site beside Twitter and MySpace, reportedly plans to increase the number of its staff by 50 percent this year. In an interview with Bloomberg last week, Mark Zuckerberg Facebook's founder who also a chief executive said, currently the number of staff employed by the site is 900 people.

The company said it had has 250 million users worldwide. In June, Facebook's rival, MySpace, which is managed by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp said it would lay off 30 percent of its staffs in the United States and two-thirds of its staffs around the world.

The company was developed with a number of investment by investors from various countries such as Peter Thiel, Accel Partners, Microsoft Corp., and Digital Sky Technologies.

FunPage that launched on 64th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, last August 17, is a Microblogging service that provides a personal page for its users. On those personal page then the user are free to express everything, from writes their daily activities, what do they feel, or just to meet their friends online and say hi. Like other social networking sites, in FunPage, users also can search for new friends or just simply looking for inspiration from another users writings.

Although the concept of FunPage following Twitter's concept, Fajareza or used to be called Reza as the admin and founder of FunPage said that he did not intend to compete Twitter. While Twitter "play" in the global market, he can only hope FunPage penetrated the domestic market. Since the targets are local users, Reza said that the site designed to be easy for use.

Because more like Twitter, almost all the features that Twitter has, been adopted in FunPage. By joining FunPage, users also can automatically updating the status of their accounts at Twitter simultaneously.
